Corner Brook, NL, March 26, 2026 — The Port of Corner Brook has officially opened a new 24,000-square-foot waterfront warehouse, expanding logistics capacity and strengthening the Port’s role in regional and global trade. Supported through a partnership with Transport Canada under the National Trade Corridors Fund (NTCF) and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the new facility provides modern storage and logistics space for businesses moving goods through Western Newfoundland.

The warehouse is divided into four 6,000-square-foot units, with one unit currently available. Located near key transportation routes, the facility is designed to support importers, exporters, and logistics operators requiring access to marine and land-based transportation networks.

Kelly Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the Port of Corner Brook, said:  “This new warehouse expands the Port’s capacity to support businesses moving goods throughout the region. It represents another step forward in modernizing our infrastructure, supporting industry needs, and helping drive economic growth across Western Newfoundland.”

The warehouse represents the second phase of the Port’s Enhancing Loading and Unloading Capacity Project. The first phase of the project upgraded cargo-handling equipment at the Port, including the addition of a new mobile harbour crane and reach stackers to improve the efficiency of loading and unloading container vessels.

“A strong and resilient supply chain is the backbone of a strong economy. Through the National Trade Corridor, the Government of Canada is investing in infrastructure like this new warehouse at the Port of Corner Brook to help Canadian businesses move their goods more efficiently to global markets. This project strengthens supply chains, supports long-term economic growth in Newfoundland and Labrador and reinforces the Port’s role as an important link in Canada’s trade network.”  – The Honourable Steven MacKinnon, Minister of Transport and Leader of the Government in the House of Commons

The project was undertaken to support a regular container shipping service between the Port of Corner Brook and overseas markets. The new warehouse provides additional logistics space for businesses shipping goods through the Port and supports potential import and export operations for a range of industries. By expanding available storage and logistics space, the warehouse enables more efficient movement of goods while creating new opportunities for trade through the Port of Corner Brook.

With space available, the warehouse is ready to support businesses looking to move goods through the Port. Businesses interested in leasing the remaining unit are encouraged to contact the Port of Corner Brook for more information.
