Longest Cruise Season on Record Wraps Up at the Port of Corner Brook
Corner Brook, NL – December 17, 2025 – The Port of Corner Brook has concluded its longest cruise season to date, welcoming ships from March 10 through October 22, 2025.
With 24 ship calls, 30,540 passengers, and 15,877 crew members, the Port continues to strengthen its reputation as a signature cruise destination in Atlantic Canada, contributing to another year of strong performance for the region’s tourism economy.
A major highlight of the season was the arrival of Le Commandant Charcot, a luxury ship from Ponant Cruises, in early March. Its winter visit underscored the Port’s year-round potential, showcasing Corner Brook’s unique winter experiences, strong port-side capabilities, and compelling value for expedition-focused cruise itineraries.
“Welcoming a cruise ship in winter was a significant milestone for the Port of Corner Brook,” said Kelly Smith, Chief Executive Officer. “It highlights not only the versatility of our operations but also the confidence cruise lines have in Corner Brook as a destination that delivers exceptional experiences in every season.”

In addition to Ponant Cruises’ Le Commandant Charcot, the 2025 season welcomed several other first-time visitors, including Norwegian Cruise Lines' Norwegian Star, Regent Seven Seas Cruises' Splendor, and Celebrity Cruises' Celebrity Silhouette, further demonstrating the Port of Corner Brook’s expanding international profile. The season concluded with the highly anticipated return of Cunard’s Queen Mary 2, the world’s only ocean liner still operating as a cruise ship, generating excitement among residents and visitors alike.
While fall remains a signature season for cruising in the Canada New England region, 74% of passengers arrived between June and August this year. This welcome shift demonstrates increased summer interest from cruise lines, aligning perfectly with the region’s extensive array of family-friendly experiences and outdoor adventures.
“We are proud to welcome more cruise visitors to experience the best of Western Newfoundland in summer,” said Patti Ricketts, Cruise Marketing Coordinator. “From thrilling outdoor adventures and cultural attractions to our vibrant waterfront and warm hospitality, summer cruising showcases everything that makes our region so special.”

The Port of Corner Brook sincerely thanks its community partners and stakeholders for their unwavering support. Their collective passion and commitment ensure that every visitor experiences the very best of our region, leaving with lasting memories and a true sense of our province’s charm.
Looking ahead, the Port of Corner Brook remains committed to enhancing the visitor experience, deepening community partnerships, and positioning Western Newfoundland as a welcoming, year-round cruise destination.
